And we’re off!

Welcome to the first post on this blog! Thank you very much for giving it a quick read!

I’ll use this post to explain more about what I’m doing and why.

As it says in the ‘About Me’ section, I recently became a Dad (hell yeah I’m capitalising that) for the first time. Since then I have felt every emotion under the sun, and to every extreme. I wasn’t really prepared for how emotional I’d be, and I suppose I wasn’t much prepared in general.

I like vlogs and blogs, so I searched for ‘parenthood from the perspective of the dad’ vlogs and blogs quite regularly, but there wasn’t much there. There were countless mother perspective ones but, while they were useful, they didn’t feel relevant enough. So my aim here is to help anyone who needs it by sharing my experiences, thoughts and tips as I navigate these slalom rapids that are fatherhood.

Now obviously I’m no expert. I have zero experience with babies outside of these 3 weeks (as of writing) I have had with Rouan (pronounced Ruwen, not Rowan), but my fiancée has studied childcare all her life. She’s worked in play areas, nurseries, and is now a private nanny, so as far as teachers go, I’m in good hands. But whilst I am no expert, I’m honest and I’m as proactive as possible in Rouan’s life, so I believe that any advice I can give might be worth it, even if for just one person. Although I do feel that at this point I should say all babies are different. Something that works for one may not work for another, and I will repeat this quite regularly as I feel it is important.

So that’s about it for now. I’m going to ease into this as time is currently limited to early morning waking shifts as days are so busy and crammed nowadays. I hope this blog finds some use somewhere, and if it helps one person then great, and who knows, maybe that one person is me. Thanks for reading, subscribe so you never miss a post, and keep an eye out for actual content to start showing up soon.
